Brian Toron, a native of Fair Lawn, New Jersey, is in his second season in 2019 as an assistant coach with the Hofstra Volleyball program.

Toron oversees all of the Pride’s recruiting efforts and assists in all facets of the program.

It was a spectacular first year at Hofstra for Toron as he helped the Pride to the Colonial Athletic Association title, a regular season CAA title and a 25-win campaign. Hofstra advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2018 and it marked the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014.

Toron came to Hofstra after working as a technical coordinator with the Northwestern University volleyball team. While a member of the Wildcats staff he assisted with practice planning, inputting DataVolley information and producing scouting reports. During his tenure, the Wildcats improved 70 spots in the RPI from the previous season.

Toron began his coaching career as a member of the University of Delaware’s staff, where he served in a variety of roles from 2014 until 2016. After working as a volunteer assistant coach, he moved up the coaching ladder and was the director of volleyball operations for a year before being named the interim head coach during the 2016 campaign. He assisted in a multitude of tasks with the Blue Hens, including scouting reports, academic support and DataVolley. In addition, he worked with the athletic development area to assist in donor cultivation and helped produce practice plans. After being named the interim head coach, Toron led Delaware to a 10-3 record and a spot in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship match.

Toron has extensive experience with USA Volleyball as he works with the A2 HP program and he also has worked a variety of camps including: Northwestern, Delaware, Villanova University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Toron, a 2015 graduate of Delaware, earned his degree in political science.
