Chris LaMonica just completed his second season as an assistant coach with the Hofstra women’s lacrosse program in 2021. 

LaMonica serves as the Pride’s goalie coach. 

A highly-decorated player at both the University of Hartford and in his professional career, LaMonica starred at Hartford from 1995-97 and was the America East Player of the Year in 1997 and a two-time all-conference selection in 1996 and 1997. He earned United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American honors in 1997 after leading the nation in save percentage. After concluding his collegiate career he reached the pinnacle of the sport in back-to-back years as he won a gold medal with Team USA in 2002 and was a member of the Major League Lacrosse Champion Long Island Lizards in 2003. A 2009 Hartford Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, he added another hall of fame honor in 2013 when he was inducted into the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame. 

He holds Hartford’s record for goals against average (8.76) and is third in saves (490). LaMonica played for the United States National team from 2002-06 and earned the gold medal at the 2002 ILF world championship. His Lizards career spanned from 2001-03. 

For nearly 10 years he worked with the Sachem Sports Club lacrosse programs and has also worked as an assistant coach with Suffolk Community College, Hartford, and Nassau Community College. 

LaMonica attended Nassau Community College before finishing his collegiate career at Hartford.
