Brandon Mangan, former Yale standout and a member of the 2016 Major League Lacrosse finalist Ohio Machine, is in his third year as the Pride’s volunteer assistant coach in 2018-19.
A three-year veteran of the MLL, Mangan has playing tenures with the Lizards in 2014, the Florida Launch in 2015 and the Machine in 2016. He tallied 11 goals and three assists in 17 career games. A native of Wantagh, NY, Mangan, played in 12 games in 2016, including the MLL Championship Game, for the Machine and recorded eight goals and two assists. He posted four goals against the New York Lizards, two goals against Atlanta and one goal and one assist at Charlotte.
The Yale University graduate (2014) was a USILA All-American honorable mention as a junior, a two-time All-New England first team selection and an All-Ivy League second team pick during his four stellar years as a Bulldog. He made his collegiate debut in 2011 and led the Yale newcomers with 11 goals and six assists in 12 games. His sophomore season saw Mangan start all 16 games and finish third on the team with 26 goals and 11 assists.
He posted his best numbers at Yale as a junior, leading the team with 39 goals and 64 points-both Bulldog junior records-and earning All-America, All-Ivy and All-New England honors as well as being a Tewaaraton Trophy candidate. Mangan tallied 23 goal and 22 assists as a senior earning All-New England accolades and All-Ivy honorable mention as well as an invitation to the USILA North-South Senior All-Star Game. He finished his Bulldog career with 99 career goals, which ranked him fourth at Yale, and 163 points, which ranks sixth.
Before coming to Hofstra Mangan served as the assistant lacrosse coach at Farmingdale (NY) High School in 2015 and 2016, working as an offensive assistant for the ‘Dalers. He has also served as a coach since September 2014 and event sales director from 2015 until July, 2016 for the For Love of the Game Lacrosse program in Massapequa, NY.
Mangan was a U.S. Lacrosse All-American first team selection and Nassau County Player of the Year at Wantagh High School. He recorded 195 goals and 138 assists during his four-year scholastic career.
Mangan, who has a bachelor of political science degree in international relations from Yale, resides in Wantagh, NY.
