Colin Curtin

Colin Curtin is in his 12th season on the Hofstra men's basketball staff in 2024-25.

Curtin has served in a variety of roles since joining the Hofstra staff, including director of men’s basketball operations, assistant coach, and twice in his current role as special assistant to the head coach.

He first joined the staff in 2013-14 as the director of men’s basketball operations.

Curtin joined the Hofstra staff after serving as the director of basketball operations at his alma mater, Niagara University, since 2009.

Over the past three seasons, Parrotta has been part of a staff that has won 20 or more games in three consecutive seasons under the direction of Head Coach Speedy Claxton. In 2021-22, Hofstra won 21 games in Claxton’s rookie campaign and this past season the Pride won 25 games, captured the regular season Colonial Athletic Association crown, and advanced to the second round of the National Invitation Tournament after defeating Rutgers in the first round.

Curtin has been on staff for seven 20-win seasons, four regular season CAA titles, four postseason appearances, and the 2020 CAA Championship. In addition, in three of the past four seasons, Hofstra has earned a victory over a nationally-ranked opponent.

This past season, Hofstra captured 20 victories, advanced to the semifinals of the CAA Championship for the fifth time in the last six years and earlier in the season was crowned the champions of the Gulf Coast Showcase. The team also saw three different student-athletes earn postseason honors from the conference.

The 2019-20 season saw Hofstra have a magical year as the Pride won 26 games and captured its second straight outright CAA regular season title. Hofstra would go on to win the CAA Championship and earn the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth since 2001. The Pride became only the sixth team in conference history (since 1982-83) to win back-to-back outright conference regular season titles.

Hofstra set a school record with 27 victories during the 2018-19 season and earned its first outright regular season conference title since the 2000-01 season. The Pride advanced to the CAA Championship Game and the regular season title earned Hofstra an automatic berth in the National Invitation Tournament.

Curtin has been an important part of the turnaround that has seen the Hofstra men’s basketball program win 200 games with him on staff, an average of nearly 20 victories per season.

As director of basketball operations, Curtin assisted in various elements of the Pride program including team travel, scheduling, and various other administrative duties. He also served as director of the Hofstra Basketball Summer Camps.

Curtin served as the head coach of the Overseas Elite team in The Basketball Tournament and led the team to the title in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Curtin helped in a variety of roles at Niagara and oversaw all travel plans, served as the summer camp director and also worked as the video coordinator with the Purple Eagles. Curtin’s vast administrative skills allowed him to work with many different constituents on campus and assist with fundraising, equipment, recruiting, film exchange and facility scheduling.

A 2009 graduate of Niagara with a degree in sports management, Curtin was a team manager with the Purple Eagles during his undergraduate tenure. He was part of two postseason teams, including the 2007 NCAA Tournament squad and assisted the staff with a multitude of tasks.

Curtin also has previous experience as an intern with The Hoop Group and as the director of instructional basketball camps with the Sea Isle City Department of Recreation in Sea Isle City, New Jersey.
