Kelly Shaver

Kelly Shaver joined the Hofstra University Department of Athletics in April 2022 as the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Performance.

Shaver brings a wealth of professional experience to Hofstra, most recently as the head strength and conditioning coach of Iona College since June 2013. At Iona, Shaver was responsible for oversight of strength and conditioning programming for all 21 varsity athletic programs, in addition to managing full-time and part-time assistant coaches and numerous volunteer interns, working with the Iona Compliance Department to ensure all NCAA and MAAC regulations were followed, and more.

Prior to his time at Iona, Shaver was the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Fordham University from March 2009 through June 2013. At Fordham, he directly supervised the men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, men’s soccer, women’s crew, women’s volleyball, baseball, and cheerleading teams, and assisted the head strength coach with creating and executing strength and conditioning programs for the Fordham football program.

Shaver also brings experience from his time as the assistant sports performance director from 2007-09 for Velocity Sports Performance. He was the strength coach for the 2008 silver medal-winning U.S. Men’s Saber Team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Shaver was a strength and conditioning intern at Georgia Southern University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, exercise science and his master’s degree in sports management from in 2013. Shaver is an NSCA Certified strength and conditioning specialist, and is first aid CPR and AED-certified by the American Red Cross.
