Courtney Veinotte is entering her fifth season as the Head Field Hockey Coach in the fall of 2023. Veinotte was elevated to the position on February 28, 2019 after two years as associate head field hockey coach.
Veinotte (pronounced Vee-no) served as the Hofstra associate head field hockey coach since February 2017. She has served as director of recruiting and has assisted in all aspects of coaching the Pride including practices and scheduling, game management and student-athlete development. In 2020, Veinotte was named to the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee, which is involved with collecting, organizing and submitting regional results and rankings to the NCAA National Advisory Committee. Prior to coming to Hofstra, she served for six seasons as an assistant coach at Maine including the last two years as associate head coach.
“Words cannot express how honored and grateful I am to become the next head field hockey coach at Hofstra University,” Veinotte said. “I would like to thank our Rick Cole Jr., Cindy Lewis, and the entire search committee for their trust in me to lead this program, as well as the opportunity to start my head coaching career. Hofstra University is a wonderful institution and I am eager to create a culture of success both on and off the field with the Pride."
During her tenure at Maine, the Black Bears had five All-Americans, 13 all-region selections and 33 all-conference honorees. Maine was nationally-ranked as well during her time in Orono and achieved a program-best ranking of fifth in 2011.
In December 2012 through February 2017, Veinotte also served as the owner and director of the Black Bear Elite Field Hockey Club in the Bangor area at the U10, U12, U14, U16, U19 level.
Active in USA Field Hockey, both as a player and coach, Veinotte has served as the Region One site director at the University of Maine in 2012 and 2013. She has also been a USFHA U19 National Championship coach in 2018. Veinotte selected athletes and coached in the 2017 Junior Olympic Games in Detroit and the Region Four New York team in the national championships. She has also been a USFHA Futures regional championship selector for five years. Veinotte earned a U.S. Field Hockey Level II accreditation in 2011.
As a player, Veinotte has been a New England Women’s High Performance player from 2008 through 2011. She has been a Futures National Championship participant from 2004 through 2006 and a Futures Elite participant in 2005 and 2006. In 2017, Veinotte was selected to coach in the Junior Olympic Games and was named to coach an Under-19 Pennsylvania Futures Team in the national tournament.
Veinotte was a four-year letterwinner for the Black Bears from 2007 through 2010. She played in 70 games with 62 starts, seeing action at forward and midfield from 2007 through 2009 and at the central back position as a senior captain in 2010. Veinotte tallied 16 goals and eight assists for 40 points during her career and was an America East All-Rookie Team selection in 2007, and earned America East Honor Roll, America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll and National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad honors as well.
As a scholastic standout at Skowhegan Area High School from 2003 through 2007, Veinotte was a four-time Maine state champion, a four-time Eastern Maine regional champion, team captain and posted 54-points as a senior in 2006. She received Northeast Regional All-American and All-Maine honors. She was inducted into the Maine Field Hockey Association Hall of Fame in December 2015.
Veinotte holds a bachelor’s degree with a double major in psychology, and child development and family relations, and a master’s degree in kinesiology and physical education with a concentration in exercise science from Maine.
