2020-21 Hofstra University Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Committee Initiatives

• Student-athlete training
  • All student-athletes will undergo diversity & inclusion training

• Staff training
  • Incorporate all staff "One module" training
     
• Evaluate department hiring practices
  • Set goals for staff make-up and how many people should be represented in each under represented group
  • Pause hiring process to ensure the interview pool is diverse before moving forward with a new hire
     
• Host three department wide Race & Equity Forums by the end of Fall 2020
  • Forum 1 topics – Privilege, Fear, Allyship
  • Forum 2 topics - Language, Dialogue and Continued Conversation on Allyship
  • Forum 3 topics - Background on Systemic Racism
     
• Structured committee meetings with dates and excused absences for participating student-athletes
   
• Pledge campaign - No Locker for Racism
  • Pledge to commit to a safe and welcoming environment in all Hofstra Athletics locker rooms
  • Patch for all uniforms

  • One educational post per week

• Support all student-athletes in standing or kneeling for the National Anthem
   
• Assist and partake in Hofstra Votes campaign
   
• Partake in community engagement programs
  • Partner with local elementary schools to read anti-racist books or books written by or featuring people of color
     
• Establish and work in conjunction with our Black Student-Athlete Association on programming and structure
