Constanza Perez Sain had a career-high 19 kills to lead the Pride but Yale rallied from an 0-2 deficit in the match to earn a five-set win over the Hofstra volleyball team on Friday evening at Payne Whitney Gymnasium.
Sonja Rundcrantz had a double-double with 27 assists and 17 digs and both were new season-highs for the freshman.
Beatriz Braga also tallied a double double with 14 kills and 10 digs.
Set scores were 26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 25-27, and 7-15. Hofstra evens its record at 2-2 this season, while Yale won its season opener.
Maria Afonso added 15 kills for the Pride, her first match in double figures at Hofstra.
Nil Kayaalp posted a personal season-best 16 digs, while
Ellie Pamatat notched 22 assists. Geovanna Goncalves Rocha led Hofstra with six blocks.
Betsy Goodenow led Yale with 17 kills, while Cam Bolane had 12 kills and Ava Poinsett chipped in with 10 kills and 11 digs. Kalyssa Taggart had 40 assists and 12 digs.
Hofstra returns to action on Saturday when it faces Santa Clara at 10:30 a.m. and Manhattan at 4:30 p.m. in day two action at the Yale Invitational.

- The Pride moved to 4-5 all-time against Yale. It was the first meeting between the teams since 2022.
- Perez Sain's previous career-high was 17 kills on a pair of occasions, most recently at Northeastern on November 14, 2025.
- Braga and Rundcrantz each tallied their second double-doubles of the season.
- The match was Hofstra's first five-set contest of the season.
- The loss ended a string of 20 consecutive matches where Hofstra won when winning the first two sets of a match.
