Hofstra Closes Southern Swing With 1-1 Draw At Elon

Elon, NC - Sasha McTiffin scored in the fifth minute, but the Phoenix tied the score early in the second half as Hofstra and Elon played to a 1-1 draw in a CAA game at Rudd Field Sunday. The draw was Hofstra's second consecutive, both with 1-1 scores. 

The Pride moved to 2-5-4 on the season and 1-0-2 in league play. Elon, the defending CAA champion, is 7-1-3 overall and 2-0-1 in conference action.

McTiffin notched her first goal of the season 4:31 into the contest for a 1-0 Hofstra lead. Mia Claro sent a corner kick to Marika Svensson at the top of the box. Svensson sent a low ball into the box that was redirected by Alexia Des Croisselles to McTiffin, who slid a shot into the lower right past Elon keeper Naomi Person. 

The Phoenix tied the game at 49:34 when Gabby Tirado headed in a pass from Lauren McCauley from the doorstep. Isabel DiPrima started the play with a pass to the right side to McCauley. 

Hofstra keeper Lilly Bailey made one save, while Person (1) and Anica Carpenter (2) combined for three for Elon.

Hofstra returns to action next Sunday, October 4, at Northeastern with a 1 p.m. start time. 

Notes:
-McTiffin's goal was her first since her freshman year (2023), when she scored three times.
-Hofstra is 8-3-2 all-time versus Elon and has tied the last two games.
-Hofstra had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks and a 13-12 edge in shots.
