Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Golf Coach Joe Elliott announced today his retirement from coaching.

Elliott was named the seventh head coach of the Hofstra men's golf team in August 2008 and guided the Pride for 18 seasons. This past season, the Pride captured the Trinity Bantams/Hartford Hawks Invitational championship and recorded seven top-10 finishes.

"It has been an incredible honor to lead the men's golf program for nearly two decades and coach student-athletes who have a true passion for golf," Elliott said. "I am grateful to the Hofstra community, Rick Cole Jr., and all the members of our athletic department for their support throughout my time with the Pride."

In addition to Hofstra's seven top-10 finishes this past season, Elliott also led his team to great success in 2024-25 as the Pride captured back-to-back tournament championships, the program's first team titles since the 2016-17 season.

Elliott has had a longstanding career as a PGA Professional. He was recognized by the PGA in April 2026 as a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Since 1996 he has served as the assistant golf professional at Garden City Country Club, where he has been responsible for individual, group, and junior instruction while coordinating tournaments.

A national search for Elliott's successor is underway.
