Meadows Scores First Career Goal; Pride Fall In Season Opener

Philadelphia, PA - Amy Meadows scored her first career goal early in the second half to tie the score at one, but Saint Joseph's broke the tie just over five minutes later and went on to a 3-1 victory over Hofstra Saturday at Sweeney Field. The Pride (0-1) dropped their season opener, while the Hawks improved to 2-0 on the young season. 

Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead midway through the first half as Kayla D'Ottaviano converted a pass from Olivia Mancini. Meadows scored off the opening kickoff of the second half, notching the equalizer just 11 seconds into the stanza. However, Sarah Fisher recorded her second goal of the season at 50:36 to put the Hawks back on top. Olivia Benzing would add an insurance goal at 85:58 with Juliette Muro notching the assist. 

Goalkeeper Lilly Bailey made two saves for the Pride, while Lauren Lebo had five stops for the Hawks. 

Hofstra returns to action Thursday night, hosting Columbia in the home opener at Captains Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra moved to 5-1-0 all-time against Saint Joseph's
-The Pride held a 12-9 advantage in shots.
-Hofstra had a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.
-Hailey Moschitta led Hofstra with five shots, while Meadows had three.
