Hofstra Earns League-Best Six CAA Team Academic Excellence Awards

Hempstead, NY - The CAA has announced the recipients of the Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2025-26 academic year, and Hofstra earned a league-best six awards with the baseball, field hockey, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, women's tennis, and men's track and field programs receiving the honor. It marked the second consecutive year that Hofstra led the CAA in Team Academic Excellence Awards. 

"It is an outstanding achievement for our athletic program to earn a league-high six CAA Team Academic Excellence Awards," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "This shows how dedicated our student-athletes are to achieving success in all aspects of their lives. They have our utmost respect for their accomplishments."

The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2025-26 academic year.

Eight different schools had at least one team earn a Team Academic Excellence Award. Drexel followed the Pride with five award recipients. Elon had four teams honored and UNCW followed with three. Campbell and Villanova had two squads recognized, while Monmouth and Northeastern each had one recipient. 

The Team Academic Excellence Award winner in 19 of the 22 sports recorded a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

The Hofstra women's lacrosse program earned the Team Academic Award for the sixth consecutive year, while baseball, men's lacrosse, and men's track and field each claimed their third consecutive award. 

The baseball program had a 3.50 grade point average in 2025-26, while the field hockey program compiled a 3.64 GPA during the academic year. Men's lacrosse had a 3.69 grade point average this past year with women's lacrosse posting a 3.68 GPA during the academic year. The Pride women's tennis program attained a 3.82 GPA during 2025-26, while men's track had a 3.42 GPA for the academic year.
