Hempstead, NY - Hofstra freshman Shannon Steck earned the first weekly award of her career today as she was named the CAA Co-Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon.

Steck had a stellar week for Hofstra in their two games. 

Steck totaled a team-high 10 points on a team-best eight goals and two assists. 

Against #3 Maryland, Steck tallied a hat trick, and led the squad in goals. 

She would do even better against Wagner on Saturday as she posted team-highs of five goals and seven points, while adding a pair of assists. She also had a ground ball against the Seahawks. The goals, assists, and points totals were all new career-highs. 

The hat tricks were her second and third of the season, and she tallied five or more points for the first time in her young career. She is the first Hofstra freshman with at least five goals in a game since Nikki Mennella had six against Marist on March 1, 2023.
