Emma Falen and
Dahlia Palacio have both been recognized by the Coastal Athletic Association on Monday for their exceptional weeks on the softball diamond – especially in conference play – by earning CAA weekly honors. Falen was named the CAA Pitcher of the Week, and Palacio was selected as the Co-Player of the Week.
Palacio went six for 14 at the plate for a .429 batting average, with two doubles and two home runs for seven RBIs, plus five runs scored, and totaled a 1.000 slugging percentage as well as an on-base percentage of .556. In the Pride's 3-0 series against Drexel, Palacio excelled with five hits in 10 at-bats with two home runs and a double for seven RBIs plus five runs scored, and she finished the series with a 1.200 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base percentage.
Falen went 3-0 inside the circle in two starts and a relief appearance, recording 21 strikeouts and a 1.24 ERA in 17.0 innings and allowing opponents to hit just .119 against her. After a nine-strikeout performance in the midweek against Central Connecticut State, Falen saved her best for her two wins against Drexel, Falen totaling 12 strikeouts, including nine in the series finale on Sunday. She finished the series with a 0.59 ERA and an opposing batting average of .098 in 12.0 innings of work.
The Pride begin the week with a Tuesday doubleheader against Saint Peter's at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
