Northeastern Rallies Past Hofstra To Even Series

Hempstead, NY - Northeastern broke an 11-11 tie in the top of the eighth inning with a bases-loaded walk to take a 12-11 victory over Hofstra Saturday at University Field. The win evened the CAA series between the two teams ahead of Sunday's finale.

In a back-and forth contest, Hofstra had taken an 11-7 lead in the bottom of the sixth after scoring five runs. Trailing 7-6, pinch hitter Michael Craig tied the game with an infield single with the bases loaded. Nick Biddle followed with a sacrifice fly to put Hofstra ahead, 8-7. After loading the bases again, JJ DeVito walked to force in another run. Tyler Cox capped the scoring with a two-run single.

Northeastern stormed back in the top of the seventh with four runs to tie the score. Carter Bentley led off with a double and moved to third on a throwing error on a pickoff attempt. Bentley would score on a ground out. A two-out walk and a single put runners on the corners for Matt Brinker, who drove in both with a double. Cooper Tarantino singled in Brinker with the tying run.

In the eighth, the Huskies loaded the bases with two outs following two walks and a hit batsman. Harrison Feinberg followed with a walk to force home the go-ahead run.

Tanner Sanderoff (2-3) was tagged with the loss after being charged with two runs in an inning of work. Michael Brown and Gabriel Melara had two hits each for the Pride, while Cox drove in three runs.
