Hofstra Doubles Up Seton Hall To Even Series

South Orange, NJ - Hofstra evened its weekend series at Seton Hall with a commanding 16-8 victory Saturday. Hofstra moved to 6-11 with the win, while Seton Hall saw its record fall to 9-9. 

The Pride broke open a 5-4 game with four runs in the sixth inning and seven in the seventh inning. 

Eight of nine Hofstra starters had at least one hit in the game. CJ Griggs and Nick Gallello each had three hits. Tyler Castrataro had a pair of hits and four RBIs, while Griggs and Cox both had three RBIs. 

Tanner Sanderoff (2-2) picked up the win in relief, allowing a run on no hits over 2 ⅓ innings. 

Seton Hall starter Jayden Barroqueiro (0-4) allowed five runs on seven hits over 4 ⅓ innings to take the loss. Frankie Scrivanic had two hits and three RBIs.

The teams play the rubber game of the series Sunday with a 12 p.m. start.

Notes:
-The 16 runs matched a season-high for the Pride.
-All nine Hofstra starters scored at leas one run.
-Leadoff batter Michael Brown had two hits and three runs.
-Sanderoff, Reno Spagnoli, and Michael D'Ambrosio combined to allow one hit over five innings.
