Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will make the short trek to New Jersey on Saturday to face nationally-ranked Rutgers.
The game is part of a Hofstra/Rutgers lacrosse doubleheader with the Pride men's lacrosse team taking on the Scarlet Knights at 3 p.m. from SHI Stadium. The Hofstra women's lacrosse team will take on the Rutgers women's team at 12 p.m.
The game will air on Big Ten Plus and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's lacrosse schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra is 1-3 this season with a narrow one-goal 9-8 defeat to St. John's in its last game on February 21. The Pride got two goals each from
John Hicks,
Joey DeYoung, and
Trevor Natalie in that contest.
Shea Kennedy made 12 saves in net, while
Blake Cooling tallied five ground balls and
Will Delaney had a pair of caused turnovers.
Rutgers, which is ranked No. 14 in the latest USILA poll, earned a 13-5 win over LIU on Tuesday. Greyson Vorgang had five points on three goals and two assists, while Shane Murphy and Colin Kurdyla each added a goal and three assists for the Scarlet Knights.
Saturday will be the 32nd all-time meeting between Hofstra and Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights lead the all-time series, 17-14. One of the Pride's oldest rivals, the series began in 1955 with a 16-6 Hofstra victory.
