Hofstra Hosts Stony Brook In Long Island Showdown On Saturday Night

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team has a big one on the schedule this weekend as the Pride will host Long Island rival Stony Brook on Saturday. The game is being presented by Apple Bank.  

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Apple Bank will have a free long sleeve shirt giveaway for the first 2,500 fans in attendance.

Hofstra won for the second consecutive time and sixth time in its last seven games with an 82-68 road win over Northeastern last Saturday. The victory improved the Pride's record to 19-10 overall and 10-6 in CAA action. Cruz Davis led the way with 22 points, while Preston Edmead had 19 points and German Plotnikov added 18 points. Silas Sunday pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds for the Pride. The win was the 100th in the head coaching career for Hofstra Head Coach Speedy Claxton

Stony Brook is 17-11 overall and 9-6 in league play heading into Thursday's game at Monmouth. The Seawolves have won two straight and three of their last four games. In their win over Hampton last Saturday, Erik Pratt led the team with 34 points, while Richard Goods added 15 points and seven rebounds. 

Saturday is the 39th all-time meeting between Hofstra and Stony Brook in men's basketball. The Pride holds a commanding 28-10 lead in the all-time series. Hofstra has won nine of the last 14 meetings between the teams. The Seawolves won this season's earlier meeting, 76-71, out east back on January 15.
