Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University volleyball team made quick work of Northeastern University on Friday night, sweeping the Huskies, 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-14), in CAA action in the Pride's return to the David S. Mack Physical Education Center.
Behind 40 kills, 10 blocks and eight aces, the Pride (13-4, 8-1 CAA) handed the Huskies (4-13, 2-7 CAA) their first sweep loss since Sept. 18 at Towson.
The victory extends Hofstra's winning streak over Northeastern to five matches and gives the Pride wins in nine of the last 10 meetings. It also marked the first time in the series that either team held the other under 20 points in all three sets of a sweep since NCAA volleyball moved to 25-point sets.
Hofstra's defense held Northeastern to a .010 attack percentage, the Huskies' lowest of the season and their lowest since hitting -.054 against Campbell in the CAA Tournament on Nov. 16, 2023. It was also the Pride's best defensive showing of 2026, topping the .024 they held Campbell to on Oct. 2.
Hofstra built what felt like an insurmountable lead in every set.Â
The Pride used a 7-0 run, including six straight points with
Ellie Pamatat at the service line, to turn an 11-7 lead into an 18-7 cushion in the first. Hofstra jumped out to a 13-3 advantage in the second and opened the third on a 14-4 run to put the match away.
Eight of nine Pride players recorded at least one kill in a balanced attack.
Julia Amorim led the way with nine kills on .533 hitting, while Pamatat posted her third double-double in her last four appearances with 20 assists and 12 digs.
Hofstra and Northeastern meet again Saturday (Oct. 17) at 3 p.m. at the PEC, streaming on FloCollege.
