Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach
Seth Tierney announced today the addition of former Pride student-athlete
Rory Jones to the staff as a volunteer assistant coach trainee.
"Rory is someone who understands Hofstra lacrosse at its core," said Tierney. "He was an outstanding leader as a student-athlete, and his work ethic, competitiveness, and commitment to his teammates set the standard within our program. We're excited to have him continue his journey at Hofstra in this new role, and we know he will be a great resource for our student-athletes as he begins his coaching career."
Jones brings a strong understanding of the program after competing as a student-athlete for the Pride from 2020-25. A two-time team captain (2023-25), he was recognized for his leadership, commitment, and impact both on and off the field. In 2024, Jones was named the Nick Colleluori Tribute Award recipient, an honor given annually to the student-athlete who best represents the values, leadership, and character embodied by Colleluori.
During his playing career, Jones played in 59 games and made 57 starts. He totaled 129 points on 83 goals and 46 assists. Jones also added 41 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. He had a career-best 24 goals in 2025 and a career-high 39 points in 2024.
A 2025 graduate of Hofstra University, Jones earned his bachelor's degree in marketing with a minor in finance from the Frank G. Zarb School of Business. He was the recipient of both Athletic and Dean's Leadership Scholarships during his time at Hofstra.
