Historic December Earns Cruz Davis USBWA Mid-Major Player Of The Month Honors

Hempstead, NY - Following an incredible December that saw him lead Hofstra to wins over Pitt and Syracuse, along with powering the Pride to a five-game win streak, Hofstra redshirt junior Cruz Davis has been named the United States Basketball Writers Association Oscar Robertson Mid-Major Player of the Month for December, it was announced today by the organization. 

Davis earned five weekly honors during the month of December including two CAA Player of the Week awards, two MBWA Player of the Week honors, and national USBWA Oscar Robertson Player of the Week accolades. 

Davis, who is averaging 21.3 points per game this season to rank 15th in the nation, averaged a robust 24.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per outing in December. He scored 20 or more points in five of the six games and shot 55% from the field and 47% from three-point range. 

Davis had a career-high 36 points in the win over Pitt on December 7 and followed that up with 22 points and a career-high nine assists in the road win at Syracuse on December 13.
