Cruz Davis had 33 points, including an incredible 28 in the second half, and
Joshua DeCady added a career-high 21 points but the Hofstra men's basketball team dropped an 89-85 decision to Elon on Saturday afternoon at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
Davis is averaging 19.3 points in the second half alone over the Pride's last three games as he had 14 versus Monmouth, 16 against Stony Brook, and 28 today.
DeCady reached the 20-point plateau for the first time in his career.
Silas Sunday was outstanding as well with eight points, a career-high 15 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
The Pride nearly overcame an eight-point halftime deficit, tying the score at 52 early in the second half but Hofstra was unable to get over the hump as the Phoenix earned the win and ended Hofstra's perfect home record this season.
Chandler Cuthrell led Elon with 23 points, while Bryson Cokley added 19, and Kacper Klaczek chipped in with 15.
Hofstra returns to action on Thursday, January 22 when it travels to North Carolina A&T for a 7 p.m. contest.
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 14-6 all-time against Elon. The loss ended a three-game win streak in the series for the Pride.
- DeCady's previous career-high was 15 points on a pair of occasions, most recently against Campbell on December 29, 2025. He also set career-highs in three-pointers made (4) and free throws made (7).
- Davis reached the 30-point plateau for the third time this season.
- Sunday's previous career-high in rebounds was 11 on a pair of occasions, most recently against Monmouth last Saturday.
- The 15 rebounds by Sunday were a Hofstra individual season-high this season and the most since
Michael Graham had 16 against Monmouth on March 8, 2025.
