New Haven, CT - The Hofstra women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2025 season as the Pride dropped a 4-0 decision to Yale on Sunday afternoon at Reese Stadium.
Hofstra slips to 3-1 with the loss, while Yale improves to a perfect 2-0.
Yale scored the game's lone first half goal in the 14th minute as Reagan Exley found the back of the net to put the home team in front.
A goal from Vienna Lundstedt doubled the margin for Yale in the 54th minute before Yale added two goals in the final few minutes to account for the final score.
Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir led Hofstra with five shots, while
Mathilde Braithwaite was second with four shots.
Lilly Bailey made five saves for the Pride, while Kyla Holmes had six saves for Yale.
Hofstra is back in action on Thursday when it hosts FDU. Opening kick-off from Captains Field is scheduled for 7 p.m.
NOTES
- Today marked the eighth all-time meeting between the teams with Yale leading the series 4-3-1.
- Hofstra was looking for its first 4-0 start to a season since the abbreviated 2020 campaign and its first 4-0 start in a full season since 2007.
