Hofstra Remains Unbeaten With 2-1 Win At Columbia

New York, NY - Alexia Des Croisselles scored her first Hofstra goal to tie the game at one in the second half and the Pride would get an own goal with just over nine minutes remaining to pick up a 2-1 victory at Columbia Friday afternoon at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium. The win improved the Pride's record to 3-0 on the season, while Columbia drops its season opener.

Following a scoreless first half, the Lions opened the scoring at the 57:13 mark when Evelyn Javers sent in a pass from Angel Akanyirige. Des Croisselles scored the equalizer off a free kick from Manon Lebargy from the side of the 18-yard box. The kick went through the hands of Columbia's keeper, Samantha Mahoney, and the Pride defender was there to knock it in at 67:42.

The game-winning goal also came on a set piece as Millie Davies sent a free kick into the box. A crowd of players from both sides went up for it and the ball was headed in by a Columbia defender for the own goal.

Hofstra keeper Lilly Bailey made two saves to pick up the win, while Mahoney had one save for the Lions.

Hofstra returns to action with a road game at Yale on Sunday at 4 p.m.
