Hempstead, NY - A pair of Hofstra volleyball student-athletes,
Clara Bal and
Izadora Stedile, were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon.
In addition, the Pride was thought of quite highly in the preseason coaches poll as Hofstra was picked second out of 11 teams.
Both Bal and Stedile are coming off seasons in which they earned postseason accolades from the CAA as Stedile garnered All-CAA First Team accolades and Bal was a All-CAA Second Team selection following the 2024 campaign.
Bal ranked second on the team with 282 kills last season. She also added 96 digs, 27 assists, 20 blocks, and 15 service aces. Bal has 804 career kills.
Stedile posted a team-high 342 kills in 2024, while also ranking second on the team with 406 digs, second with 27 service aces, fourth in blocks with 38, and fifth in assists with 31. Stedile has 855 career kills and 868 career digs.
Both are looking to join the 1,000-Kills Club at Hofstra, which currently has 17 members. Stedile is seeking to also become the 21st member of the 1,000 Digs Club and also only the seventh player in program history to reach both 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.
Hofstra opens the 2025 season on Sunday, August 31 when it travels to Binghamton for a 1 p.m. match.
