Hofstra Moves To 2-0 After Blanking Quinnipiac

Hempstead, NY - Manon Lebargy scored a pair of second half goals, while Olivia Pearse scored the Pride's first goal on a penalty kick as Hofstra posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Quinnipiac Sunday at Captains Field. Goalkeeper Lilly Bailey made three saves in 78:15 before subbing out. Hofstra moved to 2-0 on the season, while the Bobcats dropped to 0-1.

Pearse scored what would prove to be the game-winner at the 37:39 mark, knocking in a penalty kick attempt after Maggie Peterson was taken down in the box. The goal was Pearse's second of the season.

Hofstra wasted little time following the second half whistle as Lebargy's right-footed shot off a great cross from Mathilde Braithwaite made it a 2-0 game 1:05 into the half. Lebargy notched her second goal with a little bit of assistance at the 72:10 mark as her corner kick deflected off the back of a Quinnipiac defender and into the net to cap the scoring.

Bailey made one save in the first half and had two in the second half, punching a long shot over the crossbar and then stopping a header in front of the goal on the ensuing corner kick.

The Pride will take to the road for their next game, Friday afternoon at Columbia. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
