Hempstead, NY - Hofstra guard
Cruz Davis added another honor to his weekly haul as today he was named one of five recipients of the Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week award. This award is presented by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
Davis is only the third-ever Hofstra player to receive the honor after Tyler Thomas on November 28, 2023, and Justin Wright-Foreman on January 2, 2019.
Davis was also named the CAA and Met Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week this week.
Davis had a spectacular week for Hofstra in leading the Pride in the two games, including the road win over ACC-member Pitt. The win over Pitt was Hofstra's first over a member of the ACC since defeating Florida State at the 2015 Paradise Jam.
Davis averaged 30.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per outing.
Davis started his week with 24 points, two assists, and two steals on Wednesday at Columbia. Davis did all he could in the contest to help Hofstra rally, scoring 16 of his 24 points after intermission.
It was a career-defining performance for Davis on Sunday as he poured in a career-high 36 points as Hofstra took down Pitt. Davis, who added seven assists and two rebounds, shot 14-25 from the field overall and 5-11 from three point range. The 36 points are the most by a player in the CAA this season.
He started both games and averaged 36.1 minutes per outing.

Cameron Boozer, Duke (ACC)
Tre Carroll, Xavier (Big East)
