Freddie Kipkosgei will represent the Hofstra men's cross country team at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships this Saturday, November 22 in Columbia, Missouri. Kipkosgei will compete in the men's 10K race at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The men's 10K championship race will get underway at 11:10 a.m. ET (10:10 a.m. CT).
The NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be available to stream live on ESPNU and live results will be provided by PrimeTime Timing. The Eldoret, Kenya native punched his ticket to the national championship with his first-place finish at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in Contoocook, New Hampshire, on November 11. He crossed the finish line with a time of 29:12.7 to qualify for Saturday's championship race.Â
Based on available records dating back to 2002, Kipkosgei is the first freshman to win the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional Championship. He is the first Coastal Athletic Association runner to qualify for the NCAA Championship since Northeastern's Benjamin Godish in 2023 and is the second Hofstra runner to win the Northeast Regional Championship, following Alex Masai's 2019 win.Â
