Pride Records Eighth Consecutive Sweep

Greensboro, NC - Beatriz Braga had a season-best 20 kills and Nil Kayaalp picked up a match-high 19 digs to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to its eight consecutive win, a three-set sweep of North Carolina A&T on Saturday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium. The eight straight sweeps ties a program record (1998) for longest win streak without dropping a set.

With its second win streak of at least eight matches this season it marks the first time since 1999 that the Pride has had two win streaks of at least eight matches in the same season.

Hofstra improved to 17-2 overall and 9-2 in CAA play with the win. North Carolina A&T dropped to 11-9 and 7-4 in the league. Set scores were 25-20, 28-26, and 25-20.

The Pride won the first and third stanzas by identical scores but were pushed to the limit in the second set. Hofstra faced a pair of set points by the Aggies before scoring three straight to capture the set. The winning point of that set came on a service ace from Lauren Konzen

Nina Jioshvili-Ravva had 26 assists and 11 digs in the match for her seventh double-double of the season. Izadora Stedile had 17 digs, while Julia Amorim posted nine blocks in the contest.

Mikala Sampson led the Aggies with 11 kills, while Tyne Ross had 10 kills and eight digs.

The teams will finish the two-match series on Sunday at 1 p.m. The match will air on FloCollege.
