Seven-Up! Hofstra Extends Win Streak, Clinches CAA Overall Top Seed

West Long Branch, NJ - Daniel Burko had a goal and two assists, while Stefano Campisi notched a goal and an assist to lead Hofstra to a 4-1 CAA victory over Monmouth at Hesse Field on the Great Lawn Saturday night. The win, Hofstra's seventh consecutive, clinched the overall top seed in the CAA Championship.

Hofstra moved to 11-4-0 overall and 6-1-0 in the CAA with the victory. Monmouth slips to 5-7-3 overall and 2-3-3 in league play with the loss.

The teams played to a scoreless first half, which was impressive for the Hawks as they played a man down after a red card in the 20th minute. Hofstra turned it on in the second half, scoring three consecutive goals over a 14-minute span. Gabriel Pacheco opened the scoring at 59:19, heading in a precise cross from Campisi for his first goal of the season. A little over two minutes later, Laurie Goddard picked up his 10th goal of the season with Pablo Hempelmann-Perez and Burko getting assists. Campisi put his name in the goal column at 73:39, taking a short pass in the box from Burko for his first goal of the season.

Following a Monmouth goal by Patrick Osiecki at 75:48, Burko capped the scoring with his ninth goal of the year by running down a long pass from Caleb Williams and beating keeper Herman Johnsen one-on-one.

Hofstra concludes the regular season next Saturday, November 1, by hosting Drexel at 6 p.m. The Pride, which clinched the CAA North title last week, will host a semifinal game on November 9 at 2 p.m. Should the Pride advance, they will also host the CAA Championship game on November 15 at 7 p.m.
