Izadora Stedile had 16 kills and 12 digs and
Nina Jioshvili-Ravva tallied 35 assists, nine digs, six kills, and two blocks to lead the Hofstra volleyball team to a three-set sweep of Long Island and CAA rival Stony Brook on Friday evening at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center. The win was Hofstra's fifth consecutive victory and all have come in sweeps. It is the Pride's longest win streak without dropping a set since September 3-September 13, 2014 when Hofstra had a six-match win streak, all in sweeps.
Clara Bal came off the bench and keyed the Pride offense with seven kills on 14 swings and only one error.
Hofstra moved to 14-2 and 7-2 in CAA play with the win. Stony Brook dropped to 8-8 and 4-3 with the loss. Set scores were 30-28, 25-13, and 25-16.
The Pride fought off several set points in the opening stanza before rallying for the early set win. Following that, Hofstra dominated the match and only allowed Stony Brook to score a combined 29 points in the second and third set to claim the win. Hofstra hit at a .538 clip in the second set to take control and would eventually hold Stony Brook to a negative .025 attack percentage in the third and final stanza.
Beatriz Braga added 13 kills and eight digs in the match for Hofstra, which also got five kills and four blocks from
Emilly Nunes.
Kali Moore and Quinn Anderson each had eight kills for Stony Brook, which also got 24 assists and eight digs from Ava Zamora.
The teams will finish the two-match series on Saturday at 6 p.m.

- Hofstra is 14-4 all-time against Stony Brook. It is the Pride's second consecutive win against the Seawolves.
- Stedile has reached double figures in kills in eight consecutive matches.
