Pride Picks Up Two CAA Awards

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra volleyball team earned a pair of weekly awards from the CAA today as freshman Nina Jioshvili-Ravva was named the CAA Rookie of the Week and fellow freshman Lilia Duczek earned CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week accolades. 

For Jioshvili-Ravva, it is her third weekly award from the conference as she was the CAA Rookie of the Week on September 22 and October 6. It is the first weekly award for Duczek. 

Jioshvili-Ravva continued her great freshman season for the Pride in their two wins over Hampton to extend the streak to four consecutive victories. 

Jioshvili-Ravva totaled 63 assists, 11 digs, seven blocks, five kills, and two service aces. 

On Thursday, she had 28 assists, four digs, and four blocks to power the Pride to the sweep. 

She followed that up with 35 assists, seven digs, four kills, and three blocks in Friday's victory. In that match, she set the Pride offense to near perfection as Hofstra had a spectacular .487 attack percentage in the match. 

For the week, she averaged 10.50 assists, 1.83 digs, 1.17 blocks, and 0.83 kills per set. 

It was another strong week for Duczek in helping the Pride to the road wins. 

Duczek totaled an incredible 13 blocks in the Pride's two matches, while also chipping in with four kills and two service aces. 

She started the week with eight blocks in Thursday's sweep, while adding a kill, an assist, and a service ace. 

On Friday, she added five more blocks, three kills, and a service ace. 

For the week, she averaged a spectacular 2.17 blocks, 0.67 kills, and 0.33 service aces per set. She has five or more blocks in four consecutive matches. She had match-high honors in blocks in both contests.
