Abraham Longosiwa set a new program record Saturday morning in the men's 8K to finish first at 22:45 in the Metropolitan XC Championship hosted by NJIT from Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey. As a team, Hofstra finished in second place with 57 points, while Seton Hall took first with 52 points.
Longosiwa bested the record previously set by
Alex Masai at the 2021 CAA Cross Country Championships with his sub-23 minute time.
Callum Beach finished next for the Pride in 10th place out of the 74-runner field at 25:12.
Ryan McAlea was 11th at 25:20 and
William Thu finished in 12th place at 25:27.
Alex Walsh finished in 23rd at 25:46, while
Brian Beck was 24th at 25:47.
John Ortiz finished the 8K race at 26:25 to place 44th.
The Pride return to action on Friday, October 31, for the Coastal Athletic Association Cross Country Championship.
