Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Wrestling Coach Jamie Franco announced that former Hofstra wrestling student-athlete Joe Booth has joined his staff as a volunteer assistant coach trainee. Booth, who was Hofstra's first EIWA Champion, wrestled at Hofstra in 2013-14 while pursuing his MBA after graduating from Drexel in 2013.

Booth would win the EIWA title at 165 pounds for the Pride during a season that saw him post a 35-9 record and earn a national ranking as high as No. 10. He was a perfect 4-0 at the EIWA Championships to win the title and earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships, where he won three matches.

"Having Joe join our staff is a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes," said Franco. "He brings a great deal of successful high-level experience to the room and will be a tremendous asset in teaching our team what it takes to thrive in those situations. As a former teammate of mine, I look forward to having Joe in our wrestling room."

Prior to coming to Hofstra, Booth was a three-time NCAA qualifier at Drexel and compiled a 71-26 record. He would earn his degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. Between his three seasons at Drexel and one at Hofstra, Booth won 106 career matches.

Since his graduation from Hofstra in 2015, Booth has worked in sales with stints at Exiger and Smith & Nephew before taking his current role at Medtronic as a clinical sales specialist, cardiac rhythm management,

A native of Bayville, New York, Booth was a four-time New York State champion at Long Island Lutheran High School.
