No. 24 Hofstra Opens CAA Play With Clean Sheet Victory

Williamsburg, VA - Laurie Goddard scored a late first half goal and Filippo Dadone made three saves as No. 24 Hofstra opened Coastal Athletic Association play with a 1-0 victory over William & Mary Saturday night at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field. The victory extended the Pride's winning streak to four games.

Hofstra, the three-time defending CAA champions remained unbeaten this season at 4-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play. William & Mary is 2-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in CAA action.

Goddard netted his second goal of the season at 38:11 of the first half as he converted a pass from All-America defender Pierce Infuso. Dadone and the rest of the Pride defense made the goal stand despite facing 11 William & Mary shots in the second half. Only one of the shots was on target, as Dadone made just one save in the final 45 minutes after stopping two shots in the opening stanza.

Hofstra will return to action next Saturday, September 14, hosting UNCW at 1 p.m.

Notes:
-Hofstra is 13-12-4 all-time versus William & Mary and has won the last two contests.
-The Tribe held an 18-10 advantage in shots.
-Hofstra had a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
-William & Mary goalkeeper Ryan Eapen had three saves.
-Hofstra is undefeated after five games for just the fifth time in program history (71st season).
-Dadone has three shutouts this season.
