No. 22 Hofstra Cruises Past Loyola Maryland

Baltimore, MD - The 22nd-ranked Hofstra University men's soccer team rebounded from their first loss of the season with a dominating 3-0 victory at Loyola Maryland Tuesday night at the Ridley Athletic Complex. The victory improved the Pride's record to 7-1-1 on the season.

Teddy Baker set the tone early, taking a pass from Roc Carles and rocketing a shot from about 14 yards past Greyhounds keeper Dylan van der Walt just 1:06 into the game. Loyola Maryland would keep the Pride off the scoreboard the rest of the half, but that changed at 75:12 as Laurie Goddard took a pass from Jacob Woznicki and sent a shot inside the left post for a 2-0 lead. Lennon Gill was also credited with an assist on the play. Three minutes later, the Greyhounds were whistled for a foul in the box and Eoin Farrell converted the penalty kick to close the scoring.

The Hofstra defense did its job, limiting the Greyhounds (0-5-3) to eight shots with just three on goal (all in the first half). Filippo Dadone stopped all three shots on target and picked up his nation-leading sixth shutout of the season.

Hofstra returns to action Saturday, hosting No. 14 Elon in a huge regular season clash. Game time is set for 2 p.m. The game will serve as Hofstra's Alumni Day and features the dedication of Captains Field.
