Hofstra And Brown Play To 1-1 Draw

Hempstead, NY - Aimee Hodgson scored late in the first half to give Hofstra a 1-0 lead, but Brown's Kira Maguire scored the equalizer with just under three minutes to play as the Pride and Bears played to a 1-1 draw Thursday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Hofstra moved to 1-0-3 with the draw, while Brown is 0-1-1.

Hodgson notched her first goal of the season at the 42:04 mark as her free kick from the left side of the 18-yard box went through the goal mouth before hooking into the back corner. The lead appeared to be safe until the Bears broke through at the 87:12 mark. Maguire got a pass from Naya Cardoza in the middle of the box and buried the shot for her first goal of the year. Joy Okonye was also credited with the assist on the play.

Hofstra had a chance in the final minute off a corner kick, but Brown keeper Bella Schopp punched the cross away and the Pride could not get a shot off. Schopp finished with one save. Hofstra keeper Mackenzie Sullivan made two saves in the game, one in each half.

The Pride will have more than a week off as the team returns to action Sunday, September 8 at Loyola Maryland.
