Hofstra Plays To 1-1 Draw In Season Opener

Hamden, CT - Millie Davies scored the equalizer with just under six minutes remaining as Hofstra salvaged a 1-1 draw at Quinnipiac Thursday in the 2024 season opener for both teams at the Quinnipiac Soccer Complex.

Davies, who was a Preseason All-Coastal Athletic Association selection, lived up the billing as she headed in a short cross from Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir at the 84:13 minute mark. The goal erased a 1-0 deficit after the Bobcats scored at the 55:10 mark. Quinnipiac's Madison Alves sent a free kick into the box that Hofstra goalkeeper Synne Danielsen raced out to try and catch. The ball caromed off her to the Bobcats' Victoria Foster, who sent a shot into the empty net for the goal.

Danielsen, a freshman, made one save in her collegiate debut. Quinnipiac keeper Sofia Lospinoso had six saves in goal for the Bobcats, who have won the last two MAAC championships and are the preseason favorite to win again this season.

Hofstra will return to action Friday, August 23 at 2 p.m. when it hosts Columbia in the home opener at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
