Hofstra And Columbia Play To Scoreless Draw In Pride's Home Opener

Hempstead, NY - Mackenzie Sullivan made three saves as the Hofstra University women's soccer team opened their home schedule with a 0-0 draw against Columbia Friday afternoon at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. Hofstra moved to 0-0-2 on the season with the draw, while the Lions are now 0-0-1.

Sullivan, a senior keeper making her first start of the season, stopped all three shots she faced. In the first half, Columbia's Angel Akanyirige headed a shot that Sullivan tipped off the crossbar for her first save. Her second save came off a redirected shot off the foot of Maia Tabion in the 63rd minute, while her third stop came in the 88th minute when she knocked away a drive from Columbia's Annie Faraone.

The Hofstra offense was held at bay by Columbia's defense and had three shots but none on goal. Millie Davies had two of the Pride's three shots with Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir notching the other.

Hofstra will return to action Sunday when it hosts Yale at 3:30 p.m.
