Hofstra Soccer Stadium Field To Be Named In Honor Of Team Captains

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra University men and women's soccer programs will celebrate their rich histories on Saturday, September 28 (men) and Sunday, September 29 (women) with the unveiling of Captains Field during halftime of each program's Alumni Day game.

Captains Field is named in honor of the unwavering dedication and exemplary service of our former captains, whose commitment has shaped the character of our soccer programs over the years. As we celebrate this milestone, we invite all members of our soccer community to join us in recognizing and preserving the values that our captains have instilled in us all. "Throughout the years, we have had many inspirational players serve as team captain," said Hofstra Head Men's Soccer Coach Richard Nuttall. "Their leadership has been invaluable to the success of our program and this naming is the perfect way to honor them." 


Hofstra Head Women's Soccer Coach Simon Riddiough, a former captain of the Hofstra men's soccer team, added, "Knowing first hand how big a role a team captain plays in creating a strong team culture, I am thrilled that we are able to recognize those past, present, and future with the naming of Captains Field."


The schedule for each day is as follows:


Saturday, September 28
Men's soccer versus Elon at 2 p.m.
Location: Captains Field at Hofstra Soccer Stadium
Pre-game meetup for alumni starting at 1 p.m. with field dedication and captains in attendance being recognized at halftime.

Sunday, September 29

Women's soccer versus Towson at 1 p.m.
Location: Captains Field at Hofstra Soccer Stadium
Pre-game meetup for alumnae starting at 12 p.m. with field dedication and captains in attendance being recognized at halftime.
