Speedy Claxton added a local transfer to the roster as Jean Aranguren will join the Pride.
Aranguren, a 6-3 guard who is from Valencia, Carabobo, Venezuela, spent his freshman year at Iona University in New Rochelle, New York.
"Jean is a tremendous shooter and will be a great asset for us moving forward," mentioned Claxton. "He has played at a very high level in his career, including internationally, and we look forward to him having an impact on our program."
Aranguren appeared in 33 games with five starts for the Gaels in 2023-24. He averaged 8.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per contest. Aranguren, who averaged nearly 22 minutes per game, scored in double figures nine times as a rookie and shot nearly 40% from three-point range. He had a season-best 22 points against Colgate and added 21 at Canisius.
Aranguren was twice named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week in 2023-24.
Prior to Iona, Aranguren attended Springfield Commonwealth Academy in Springfield, Massachusetts and also spent time at Upper Room Christian School in Dix Hills, New York. He averaged 12 points per game and also reached 1,000 career points during his career.
