Hofstra Women Compete At Penn Relays and Vassar Twilight

The Hofstra women's outdoor track and field team competed Thursday and Friday at Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Vassar's Twilight Invitational.

Jordyn McDonnell raced for the Pride in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Penn Relays and finished with a time of 10:30.31 to take 15th place Thursday afternoon.

On Friday, the Pride competed at Vassar in the 100m, 100m hurdles, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m, discus throw and shot put events. Allison Reid led Hofstra to take first place in the 5,000m race with a personal best time of 18:15.50. Leslie Villafuerte Castro finished the 5,000m in 18:53.96 to take 6th, Jackalynn Orellana finished 7th in 18:57.42, and Samantha Szabo was 11th at 19:55.36. Mackenzie Kelly represented Hofstra in the 100m hurdles and finished in 17.92 to take 6th place. Tori Bien took 7th place in the 800m race with a time of 2:23.94. Jayda Marshall placed 13th in both the 100m and 200m contests. Lauren Galler was 16th at 14.68, Sofia Stasinos 17th at 16.23, Karen Jin 18th at 17.12 and Alexandra Arciniega 20th at 17.33 in the 100m. Amanda Hinojos took 9th place in the 1500m at 5:15.72, while Shavari Maharaj was 17th at 5:44.40, Jordan Slovensky came in 21st at 6:00.78, and Lianne Emanuel was 23rd at 6:36.52. Adanya Collins competed for Hofstra in both the discus throw and shot put. Collins finished with marks of 16.27m in discus throw and 5.10m in shot put.

The Hofstra women's outdoor track & field team will be back in action May 10 for the Coastal Athletic Association Championships in Elon, North Carolina.
