Pride Drops Road Contest At Stony Brook

Stony Brook, NY - Kerry Walser had two goals and an assist to lead the way for the Pride, but Stony Brook defeated the Hofstra women's lacrosse team by the score of 18-5 on Sunday afternoon at LaValle Stadium. 

Lauren Coletti posted two goals for the Pride, while Melissa Sconone dished out a pair of assists. 

Hofstra suffered its first CAA loss of the season to fall to 9-6 and 6-1 in league play. Stony Brook improved to 14-2 and 8-0 in conference action. 

Stony Brook opened the scoring with four straight goals before Coletti got the Pride on the scoreboard. The Seawolves would tack on three more goals before Walser found the back of the net for her first of the game midway through the second quarter. 

The Pride scored a trio of goals in the second half, including Walser opening up the scoring at the 13:50 mark. Coletti and Walser would add the other Pride tallies to close the scoring for Hofstra. 

Ashlyn McDonald posted three caused turnovers and two ground balls for the Pride. It marked her second consecutive game with a career-high in caused turnovers. Christine Dannenfelser had a season-best three draw controls, along with two ground balls and a caused turnover. Luchianna Cardello made 10 saves in net for Hofstra. 

Ellie Masera had seven points (5 G, 2 A) and nine draw controls for Stony Brook. Kailyn Hart posted five goals for the Seawolves.

- Coletti had her fourth multi-goal game of the season. 
- Walser has had three or more points in three consecutive games and 10 times this season. 
- Cardello had double figures in saves for the fifth time this season. 
- Hofstra is now 5-8 all-time against Stony Brook.
