Hofstra Begins CAA Championship Play Thursday

Williamsburg, VA - The 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Men's Tennis Championship gets underway on Thursday with 11 teams competing for the conference title at the Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts on William & Mary's campus. The 11-team field is the largest since 2023, with Campbell making their CAA debut this year.

The tournament begins with first-round matches on Thursday where #8 Charleston will meet #9 North Carolina A&T at 9 a.m., followed by #7 Drexel versus #10 Hofstra at noon, and #6 Campbell face off against #11 Hampton at 3 p.m.

The quarterfinals begin Friday at 9 a.m. when #1 UNCW will face the winner of Charleston/NC A&T, followed by #4 Monmouth against #5 William & Mary at noon. Delaware, the second seed, will face off against the winner of Drexel/Hofstra at 3 p.m. and #3 Elon will compete against the winner of Campbell/Hampton at 6 p.m.

The two semifinal matches are set for Saturday at noon and 3 p.m., while the championship match is slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday. The winner of Sunday's championship will earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship.

Live scoring will be available for all matches throughout the tournament. 

Hofstra went 7-10 during the regular season and was 1-2 in conference play. The Pride concluded their season to upset #4 Monmouth in a 4-3 win over the Hawks with Ostap Kovalenko's singles win clinching the victory for Hofstra. Hofstra faced Drexel on Saturday, February 3, and fell to the Dragons 5-2. Ostap Kovalenko leads the Pride with 14 singles wins, while Vincent Turina has 12 wins on the season. Josh Reynolds and Kaita Odani both have 11 wins on the season, while Hideki Matsuoka has 8. Matthew Garcia has 7 singles wins this season and Maxim Michaels has 3 wins in his freshman season.
