Ostap Kovalenko clinched Hofstra's 4-3 win over the Monmouth University Hawks on Sunday afternoon with his three set thriller at No. 1 singles to end the regular season. The Pride moved to 7-10 with the win and 1-2 in conference play, while the Hawks dropped to 15-5 and 2-2 in the CAA.
Kovalenko defeated Mateo Bivol of Monmouth 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 to clinch the win for Hofstra. The Pride swept doubles play to earn the doubles point and followed with singles wins from
Kaita Odani,
Maxim Michaels and Kovalenko to remain victorious.
Hofstra will be back in action on Thursday, April 18 at the Coastal Athletic Association Championship in Williamsburg, Virginia.
