Pride And Seahawks Set For Crucial Showdown

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will head south for a crucial road trip this week that begins with a game at UNCW on Thursday. 

Tip-off from Trask Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m. 

The game will air on FloHoops and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on 88.7 FM (tape delayed). Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. 

Hofstra's late season push has seen them win three straight, seven of the last eight, and 10 out of its last 12 games. 

The Pride is now 18-11 overall and 11-5 in the league and sit in a tie for second place in the CAA standings. 

In its most recent outing, Hofstra dominated Elon and cruised to an 87-64 win over the Phoenix on Saturday evening. Tyler Thomas had 25 points and seven rebounds, while Jacco Fritz posted 14 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. 

UNCW is 20-8 and 11-5 in the league. The Seahawks most recently dropped a double overtime, 105-100, decision to Campbell on Monday night. Trazarien White had 38 points and nine rebounds for UNCW.

One of the best rivalries in the CAA since the Pride joined the league in 2001, Hofstra and UNCW have met a total of 50 times as league rivals. The Pride holds a narrow 26-24 lead in the series. Hofstra has won two of the last three and six of the last eight meetings in the series.
