Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra field hockey team's 2024 season came to a disappointing conclusion on Sunday with a 4-0 defeat at Vermont from Moulton Winder Field.
The Catamounts (8-8) opened the scoring early in the first quarter on a penalty corner goal by Sophia Lefranc, making it 1-0 at 8:53. The second goal came at the 5:47 mark of the second quarter on a tally from Marie Dijtstra on another Vermont penalty corner. Vermont's third goal came on a penalty stroke from Lotte Kanters, and the fourth and final goal came with 4:14 remaining in the game by Maddie Priestly.
Pieke Roos and
Tessa Lambright each saw a half of play between the pipes, and Roos stopped four Vermont shots while Lambright tallied a save in the second half.
Hofstra's 2024 season ends with an overall record of 4-15.
