Hofstra Heads To No. 6 Ohio State Sunday

Hempstead, NY - Following a 2-1 showing at the Hofstra Quad, the Pride wrestling team is back on the mat this Sunday at No. 6 Ohio State. The dual match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start in Columbus, Ohio and will be streamed live on the Big Ten Plus Network. A link is available above or on the wrestling schedule page of GoHofstra.com.

The Pride defeated Duke and EIWA foe Sacred Heart last Saturday, while losing to The Citadel. Justin Hoyle (141) and Ross McFarland (184) each went 3-0 on the day, while Dylan Acevedo-Switzer (125), Chase Liardi (133), and Noah Tapia (149) were 2-1. McFarland's performance boosted him into the national rankings in the Intermat (29), FloWrestling (26), and WrestleStat (33) polls. 

Ohio State, led by former Hofstra coach and Athletics Hall of Famer Tom Ryan, boasts a 2-0 record following wins over Tennessee Chattanooga and Edinboro. The Buckeyes starting lineup includes eight nationally ranked competitors. 

The tentative lineups for the match are:
125- Dylan Acevedo or Teague Strobel vs. #10 Brandon McCrone
133- Chase Liardi vs. #17 Nic Bouzakis
141- Justin Hoyle or Joe Sparacio vs. #2 Jesse Mendez
149- Noah Tapia vs. #11 Dylan D'Emilio
157- Jurius Clark or Frank Volpe vs. #9 Paddy Gallagher
165- Kyle Mosher vs. #11 Samma Sasso
174- Greyson Harris vs. T.J. Schierl or e'Than Birden
184- #29 Ross McFarland vs. Gavin Bell
197- Nikolas Miller vs. #11 Luke Geog
285- Danny Church vs. #8 Nick Feldman

Hofstra is 0-7 all-time against Ohio State. The Buckeyes wrestled at Hofstra last season and picked up a 51-0 victory on November 19 at the Mack Sports Complex.

Following the dual, Hofstra will be off until December 6-7 when it competes at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
