Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will put its 3-0 start to the season to the test on Saturday when the Pride heads away from campus for its first true road test of the season at Massachusetts.
Tip-off from the Mullins Center is slated for 7 p.m.
The game will air on ESPN+ and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra improved to 3-0 with another monumental win for the program as the Pride defeated Seton Hall on Wednesday evening by the score of 49-48. It marked the program's first win over a Big East team since defeating St. John's, 63-51, on December 29, 2006.
Jean Aranguren led the Pride with 13 points and six assists, while
Jaquan Sanders added 12 points in the contest.
The Pride is 3-0 to start the season for the second time in the past three seasons (began 2022-23 with four consecutive wins).
Massachusetts is 1-2 to begin the season with a win over New Hampshire and losses to West Virginia and Louisiana Tech (76-66). Ironically enough, the Pride and the Minutemen were in the same building on Wednesday as the Massachusetts game against Louisiana Tech was also at the Nassau Coliseum. Jaylen Curry had 14 points and six assists for the Minutemen in that game, while Daniel Rivera tallied eight points and nine rebounds.
This will be the fifth all-time meeting between Hofstra and Massachusetts in men's basketball. The Minutemen lead the all-time series, 3-1, in a series that began during the 1970-71 season. The Pride's lone win in the series occurred during the 1971-72 season as they captured a 60-56 victory. The teams last met during the 2022-23 season in a game that took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
