Hofstra Graduate Aaron Estrada Signs Contract With Detroit Pistons

Hempstead, NY - Former Hofstra men's basketball student-athlete Aaron Estrada has signed an Exhibit-10 contract with the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association, the franchise announced on Monday. 

Estrada, who earned his undergraduate degree in liberal arts from Hofstra in 2023, played two seasons for the Pride before ending his collegiate career at Alabama. 

It was a spectacular two seasons at Hofstra for Estrada as he poured in 1,219 career points with the Pride to rank 28th all-time in program history. He averaged 18.5 points in 2021-22 and 20.2 in 2022-23 for an average of 19.3 points per outing at Hofstra. 

Estrada earned back-to-back CAA Player of the Year awards in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and was the 2023  Lt. Frank J. Haggerty Award winner as the top player in the New York Metropolitan area, while adding All-CAA First Team accolades each season as well. He was twice a finalist for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year award and garnered National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District honors, United States Basketball Writers Association All-District accolades, and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference First Team honors.

In addition to his more than 1,200 points at Hofstra, he also added 352 rebounds, 292 assists, 96 steals, and 13 blocked shots. In addition, he drained 131 three-pointers with the Pride. 

He started all 63 games he played in at Hofstra and averaged 36.1 minutes per outing. 

Last season at Alabama he averaged 13.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game in 37 games. The Crimson Tide advanced to the NCAA Final Four during the 2023-24 campaign. Prior to coming to Hofstra he played at Saint Peter's and Oregon.
